Talk about the "white man's burden" revisited. This author starts off with the right and reasonable premise that the left's critiques of Zionism are not, in fact anti-semitic, but based on a principled stand against colonialism. So far, so good. His conclusion is incredulous though. He posits that if the West, and the left specifically, are won over to the idea that colonialism is a good thing, then we will (his words) "appreciate the merits of Zionism." I am at a loss of words over this premise, and suppose Kipling's vile ghost lives.
