Thank you for this post. Girls have been digging same sex relationships between dudes (whether overt or subtextual) for a while, but nobody ever talks about it. Especially here in America. It’s partly like you say; men in America are always portrayed as super macho (straight) or ridiculously fey (gay). But I also think it’s a holdover from sexism; it’s just not ladylike for a woman to get turned on by anything other than plain vanilla hetero sex.

starzero already recommended it, but I want to give Supernatural as another suggestion. If you like Reaper, True Blood, and Fringe, this show is right up your alley. It's a mix of all three, comedy, horror, serial drama. There are four seasons to catch up on, but once you start them you won't be able to stop.

I would definitely recommend The Great Gatsby as a book that deals with this very issue. Nick, the narrator, would definitely be an example of someone with money (or at least comes from wealth) with class as you define it. At the beginning of the novel we are also supposed to include Daisy and Tom Buchanan in this category, with Gatsby in the other category (people of low class with money). Daisy's (and to a lesser extent, Nick's) disdain for Gatsby's extravagant and gaudy parties perfectly illustrates the concept.

Grinding your teeth at night can be a symptom of sleep apnea. But you could have any number of sleep disorders. Do as aeschenkarnos says and see a sleep specialist. Sleep is too important to your overall health, both physical and mental, to ignore.

I think Adam has always been out. Straight people don't have big rituals where they formally announce their sexuality, and nobody accuses them of being closet heterosexuals. It's just a double standard by the media. Apparently you're not out unless you take out a full page ad in the New York Times.

I don't understand why people complain about historical inaccuracies in Merlin. Almost all reputable historians now agree that Arthur and Merlin never actually existed, they're just legends, not real people. I can actually understand nitpicking at The Tudors over historical inaccuracy, since all of those people actually did exist, but Merlin? It's like complaining that Harry Potter is historically inaccurate. It's a fictional world people, not a documentary.

I too, am gobsmacked that many people are just now picking up on the fact that Cooper is gay. I knew at the end of the first episode. He's in a bar that has no women in it, across the bar from the male prostitute that his vice cop friends had arrested earlier that night. The bartender is a very sexy looking guy wearing a tight white tank top. Um, duh?

I agree with others that most who do this (myself included) aren't doing it with any expectation of reducing the fat content, but because we don't want Pizza grease to drip all over our hands, clothing, etc.

I’ve been watching it just because all my regular shows are ending now, but I have to agree with your assessments. To make matters worse, in further episodes that I’ve seen, they continue to try and develop the relationship between Toby and cold doc lady. If he does have any chemistry with anyone on the show, there’s more of it with the cop gal. Still I’ve managed to watch like 11 episodes of it so far. I think it’s one of those things that’s so bad that I’m fascinated by it.

I love Payday bars for a salty/sweet fix, but if you don't like the candy bar route:

chocolate-coconut covered Cheez Its
Candy Corn and Peanuts mixed together like a sort of trail mix
Banana with a slice of cheese wrapped around it

That last one may sound horrid to you, but it's actually delicious. Learned it from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood when I was about 5 years old.
