    "Microsoft had warned that the "Conficker" virus, transmitted through Windows, was attacking computer systems in October last year, but according to reports the French military ignored the warning and failed to install the necessary security measures." But *fighter planes*? Really? Tell me that I can have more faith in the military industrial complex than this.

    Joel Spolsky's take on the IE8 decision to go with "standards mode" by default. The issue is not black & white. I have no sympathy for Microsoft who have put web developers in the position of needing IE hacks to make pages work everywhere.
