The next stage of the game is beginning. As more and more bittorrent trackers are being taken down -- it took the industry over 5 yrs to really start to take action -- bittorrent is going to move to trackerless "magnet" torrents. The studios will then lose tracker admins as someone they can target. But let's hope the availability and speed doesn't end up being more like Gnutella/Emule!

Damn! RSS mininova seraches were the best way to automatically find out when new albums by artists one likes came out. (And often there before official release.)
So the MAFIAA has managed to effectively kill the soul of the largest torrent indexing site in the world. The battle is won, after 5 yrs, but the war is unwinnable. Prohibition doesn't work.

Human nature cannot be stopped. After spending millions to shut down the Pirate Bay, not only did it come back up a few hours later, but now there is a torrent of The Pirate Bay itself floating around, and anyone can resurrect the site at any domain at any time. Throw in unbreakable encryption, and there's nothing you can do about it. Prohibitions don't work.

Judges are supposed to recuse themselves from cases if there is a conflict of interest. The defending lawyer is now calling for a mistrial. The copyright industry has really bungled things. Meanwhile, Pirate Party membership in Sweden has skyrocketed after the verdict.
The dinosaurs are flailing again. Flail, dinosaurs, flail.

Wow. This is big. They'll probably appeal it though. And The Pirate Bay wont go anywhere. Prohibitions don't work. This may be the beginning of the end for bittorrent, however. But probably not. Hell, people still use gnutella.
