Obama administration files briefs agreeing that downloading an mp3 with a 99-cent retail value make syou liable for $750 to $150,000. Sheer idiocy. Let's just go steal CDs from record stores, since apparently that is a lesser crime.

The next stage of the game is beginning. As more and more bittorrent trackers are being taken down -- it took the industry over 5 yrs to really start to take action -- bittorrent is going to move to trackerless "magnet" torrents. The studios will then lose tracker admins as someone they can target. But let's hope the availability and speed doesn't end up being more like Gnutella/Emule!

Just because it's possible to do something similar with the internet, doesn't make it right. And using the artists is just an excuse; that extra money goes to the corporation, it doesn't go to the artists unless it is the artist themselves suing.

Yup. 200,000 votes for the Pirate Party in Sweden. Legal attacks on ThePirateBay have only made them stronger.
