CIX is still the hosting provider for the static parts of my web site, just as it has been ever since they introduced those novel "web page" things a couple of decades ago. I too still have my CIX "sphipps" ID and mail to it still works fine.

I'm always very wary of new laws attempting to regulate the online world, as most of what happens there is just an analogue of what happens in atomspace and is thus well covered by existing law. However, it seems convictions have proved impossible in obviously unjust circumstances so maybe this one is justified. I hope California will be ready to tune it up when the bugs and unintended consequences emerge.

I should think so too. Not all Netbook use-cases are online. Connectivity on the train to London is unusable, and giving presentations in most auditoria would be impossible if a reliable connection was mandatory. I was beginning to lose confidence in the judgment of the UNR developers, hope this is a sign they will listen to users a little more from now on.
