Roberto's review of OSI's governance reforms correctly points out that individuals are very important to OSI. I hope the new governance will grealy expand the number of individuals able to contribute significantly and directly to OSI's mission to advance open source and unite its communities.

As you'll recall, the Open Source Initiative asked the US DoJ and the German FCO to ensure that if Novell's patents were indeed sold to CPTN as proxy for Microsoft, EMC, Apple and Oracle, they be required to ensure the portfolio can't be used to obstruct competition from open source. Seems OSI's submission (along with those by FSF and FSFE) had a strong effect.
