I know I always tell people to look beyond tools to understand social media. That said - finding good monitoring tools is an area where I am prepared to make an exception to this rule - and TouchGraph and MentionMap in this list of tools look very useful.

If you really want 2,000 twitter followers, here's how to do it. Can't think why you would want 2,000 though, at least why you would want them via this method. You really want twitter followers who actively seek you out. Twitter is about finding the needles in the haystack - and this seems just to be adding more hay. Can see how you might find a use for that twollo thing though - but more as a way to find people to listen to

Another handy little tool for Twitter monitoring. Means you don't have to have an RSS reader or use a tool like tweetdeck (still the preserve of social media geeks rather than everyday folk) to stay on top of twitter mentions, only access to email, which we all have.
