I’m at the semester’s first meeting of Conversio Virium, Columbia’s BDSM, or kinky sex, education group, witnessing famed fetishist Dov demonstrate “rough body play,” or “thug play.” The demonstration is instructional, with an emphasis on avoiding actual bodily harm, but it’s easy to forget this as Dov maneuvers her onto the floor, grip strong, demonstrating an impressive and creative repertoire of ways to twist her body and apply force.

The Visibility Project is a photographic portraiture series focused on the Queer Asian American identified community.  All the participants have identified as female at one time and the project is inclusive to:  trans, ftm, mtf, genderqueer, bisexuals, lesbian, gay, intersex, andro, two-spirit, or any other gender or sexual identifications...Seeking participants who are willing to be photographed at a studio in Brooklyn, NY during the last week of December.  Date(s) have not been finalized yet, but please send an email or post a comment if you’d like to be a part of this amazing project.  The shoot dates will be between Dec 28th and Jan 2.  Looking for all ages, no modeling experience necessary, just be willing to be photographed and interviewed, plan to spend about 20-30 minutes at the location.  When the dates are finalized, time-slots will be given to each participant.

DDeviousDelights is one of many venues that blame the economy for its 30 to 40% event attendance drop this year. The high-end roaming party One Leg Up said it has had about 20 percent fewer event attendees a year since 2007. And one stationary club -- the 14-year-old Carousel Couples Club -- reported a 60% attendance plunge from 2007 to 2009.
