Great site for making materials for our Ancient China Studay! Since the ancient times, lots of poets have written down poems with the Double-Ninth Day as a theme. Wang Wei, a famous poet in the Tang Dynasty, writes in his poem entitled On the Mountain Holiday Thinking of My Brothers in Shandong, which is one fairly popular among those poems, that "Alone, a lonely stranger in a foreign land, I doubly pine for my kinsfolk on holiday. I know my brothers would, with dogwood spray in hand, Climb up the mountain and miss me so far away". From these short lines can we not only see that people in the Tang Dynasty had had the conventions of height ascending and inserting cornel but feel deeply the homesickness of the poet.
